AAClatan ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit aaclatan.com and use our tools, including the communication board editor, pictogram browser, and dashboard.
Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the site.
We may collect information about you in a variety of ways:
When you use our contact form, we collect your full name, email address, phone number (optional), and the content of your message. This information is sent to our backend server for the sole purpose of responding to your inquiry.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address to send you updates about AAClatan services, features, and news.
Our pictogram browser caches search results in your browser's localStorage to improve performance. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers. Cached data automatically expires after 30 minutes.
When you create or edit communication boards using our board editor, your board data (button labels, image URLs, layout configuration) is processed in your browser. Boards you upload (OBF files) are parsed locally and are not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly export or save them.
When you access the site, our servers may automatically collect basic information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, access times, and the pages you visit. This data is used for site operation and security purposes.
We use the information we collect to:
Operate the pictogram browser (searching Open Symbols and AAClatan pictograms), the board editor, and the dashboard tools.
Use your contact form submissions to respond to your questions and requests about our AAC solutions.
Send newsletter updates to subscribers. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Analyze usage patterns to improve our tools, fix issues, and develop new features for the AAC community.
Our pictogram browser connects to the Open Symbols API to search for open-licensed AAC symbols. When you search for pictograms under the "Open Symbols" or "All" categories, your search query is sent through our server to the Open Symbols service. We do not control how Open Symbols processes this data.
AAClatan pictograms are served through our own backend API. Image requests are proxied through our server to protect access credentials.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Contact form submissions and newsletter subscriptions are stored on our backend servers. We use API key authentication and server-side proxying to protect data in transit.
Board data and cached pictogram searches are stored locally in your browser and are not sent to our servers unless you take an explicit action to do so.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
Access: You may request access to the personal information we hold about you.
Correction: You may request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
Deletion: You may request that we delete your personal information, including newsletter subscriptions and contact form records.
Opt-Out: You may unsubscribe from newsletter communications at any time.
Local Data: You can clear cached pictogram data at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage.
Our tools are designed to support AAC users of all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for legal and regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please contact us at support@aaclatan.com.
