These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you") and AAClatan ("we," "us," or "our"), concerning your access to and use of aaclatan.com and its tools, including the communication board editor, pictogram browser, and dashboard (collectively, the "Site").
By accessing the Site, you agree that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use immediately.
AAClatan is a social enterprise providing culturally appropriate augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools for Filipinos. Our Site offers:
A browser-based tool for creating and editing AAC communication boards. You can import Open Board Format (OBF) files, customize button labels, images, and colors, rearrange board layouts, and export boards as OBF files or PDFs for printing.
A search tool for browsing AAC symbols from two sources: Open Symbols (a public library of open-licensed symbol sets) and AAClatan's own Filipino pictograms. Results can be filtered by language, category, and safe search settings.
A central hub to access your AAClatan tools, including the board editor and pictogram browser.
Information about our AAC services, team, and mission to provide affordable, culturally appropriate communication supports designed specifically for Filipinos.
By using this Site, you agree to the following:
Any information you submit through our contact form or newsletter subscription is truthful, accurate, and current.
You will use the Site and its tools only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You will not use the tools to create offensive, harmful, or illegal content.
AAC symbols accessed through our pictogram browser (from Open Symbols or AAClatan) are intended for communication support purposes. You agree to respect the licensing terms of each symbol set.
You will not use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access the Site or its APIs in a manner that could degrade performance for other users.
The Site's design, source code, branding, logo, and original content are the property of AAClatan and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
AAClatan pictograms (Filipino picture symbols) are created by Filipino artists and are proprietary to AAClatan. They may not be copied, redistributed, or used outside of the AAClatan platform without explicit written permission.
Open Symbols accessed through our pictogram browser are provided under their respective open licenses (such as Creative Commons). The licensing terms of each symbol set are determined by their original creators, not by AAClatan.
Communication boards you create using our tools are yours. We do not claim ownership over board content you produce.
Our board editor supports importing and exporting boards in the Open Board Format (OBF). OBF is an open standard, and we provide this compatibility so you can use your boards across different AAC applications.
We do not guarantee that boards exported from our editor will be fully compatible with every OBF-supporting application, as implementations may vary.
Our pictogram browser uses the Open Symbols API to provide access to open-licensed symbol sets. Open Symbols is a third-party service with its own terms and policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or licensing of symbols provided by Open Symbols.
We may link to external resources or services. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party websites.
The Site and tools are provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the reliability, accuracy, or availability of the Site.
The AAC tools and content on this Site are designed to support communication but do not replace professional speech-language pathology assessment or treatment. Always consult a qualified professional for individual communication needs.
We are not responsible for any loss of data, including boards or configurations, that may occur due to browser issues, device failure, or clearing of browser storage.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, AAClatan and its team members shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or its tools. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data, loss of communication boards, or inability to access the Site.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Site shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of the Philippines.
We reserve the right to update these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please contact us at support@aaclatan.com.
